What to do when you’ve got nothing to do on Thanksgiving
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss some different activities for Portlanders to do if they don't have any plans, as well as restaurants that are open during the holiday. The Vanguard's "Holiday Feast" issue focuses on educating its readers on the history of Thanksgiving, as well as providing some fun recipes to spice things up.

Pet safety on Halloween
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss a few different tips to help the pet owners of Portland ensure the safety of their animals on Halloween. The "Vangourd Halloween Special" issue provided readers with some comic relief, Halloween-style, as well as some interesting facts about the holiday and the lore surrounding it.

Dining evolves at PSU
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss the new dining options that the school began to offer students in the 2017-2018 academic year. In early 2017, Chartwells won a ten-year contract allowing them to redesign the dining areas and dining options at Portland State University. This article details those new options and areas as well as the opinions of PSU students on their newfound dining freedom.

In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss a few different things that newcomers to Portland should know upon moving there. The Vanguard's "Orientation Guide" aims to help provide students who are just starting out at Portland State University, or college in general, with some helpful tips regarding their first few months at school. The purpose of this article was to inform newcomers to Portland, whether they're a student or not, what to expect upon their arrival.

Student ID hacks
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss thirteen different ways that you can use student identification or e-mail to get free or discounted goods. The Vanguard's "Grad Guide" aims to help provide students who are about to graduate with useful information for their final days in college as well as the immediate months following. The purpose of this article was not only to help upcoming graduates take advantage of their student identification or e-mail while they still can, but to let current students know how they can make the most out of their money as well.

Don't be 'that guy'
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discuss eleven tips that I have for how to act and what to do when you go to a concert. The Vanguard's "Night Out Guide" aims to help provide students not only with a lot of fun activities and places to go around Portland, but also how to stay safe and act appropriately in during those activities and at those places. The purpose of this article was to give your average once-a-year concertgoer a heads up on the do's and don'ts of going to a show.

Video games for the closet agoraphobe
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I talk about three video games that are good for people who may like the outdoors, but don't like leaving their house. The Vanguard's "Get Outside Guide" attempts to motivate students to engage with nature and the outdoors. The purpose of this article was to educate people who love video games and the outdoors on how to incorporate both of them together, and have fun while doing so.

PSU adopts new religious accommodations policy
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I went over Portland State University's new religious accommodations policy. I spoke with an administrative member who helped develop the policy as well as a student to discern what their views on the policy were. I also broke down the policy, discussing the most important aspects of it in order to properly inform students, staff, and faculty of their religious rights on campus.

PSU adjuncts: the problem with being a part-time instructor
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I discussed some of the financial issues that adjunct professors face as well as interviewed students and professors to get their thoughts on those issues, as well as the Rate My Professors service. The purpose of this article was to educate the readers of the Vanguard on the struggles that adjunct professors face, as well the politics behind their employment.

PSU begins ‘Four Years Free’ program to help students pay for college
In this article that I wrote for the Portland State Vanguard I went over a new program that had recently been introduced as a method of financial aid for new in-state students as well as interviewed students to get their thoughts on the new program. The purpose of this article was to inform the readers of the Vanguard about the Four Years Free program.
